Thank you to everyone who donated both time, table settings, food, labor, auction and opportunity drawing items and bought tickets to make this years' Afternoon Tea Fundraiser such an amazing success! Thank you to Noah Homes for letting us use your wonderful facilities too! We celebrated Brittany Catton Kirk, who has created Sunlight Retreats for Victims of Rape; Luke and Alex Tchang for the amazing work they have been doing to teach on-line as well as interact personally with orphaned girls living in Grace Girls' Home in Sri Lanka; and Simona Valanciute who is the Executive Director of San Diego Oasis, an enrichment program for people over the age of 50.
We were treated to live music performed by the musicians of the Diego Hills High School Band, delicious finger sandwiches, scones and small dessert items served by many of the men in our club, with assistance by some staff members of Harriet Tubman Charter School and Rotaract members of the SDSU Rotaract club. There was both black tea, and herbal tea, poured ably from multiple ceramic teapots, and all of the table settings came from members' china. This event is surely a labor of love!
