Furnishing a new home can be especially challenging for young people who have experienced disruptions in their lives that led them into the foster care system.
Just in Time for Foster Youth (JIT) began the My First Home program to address the need for furniture as well as kitchen, bedroom and bathroom items to transform rooms and apartments into welcoming homes. On August 10, 18 volunteers and friends of the Club joined JIT staff and volunteers at their well-stocked warehouse to help five young program participants choose dozens of new and gently used items, and then load them up and transport them to their homes.
Meeting these resilient young people and donating just a few hours was a meaningful experience for all involved. Thank you for this important service, JIT!
